Christmas spirit
The temperatures have been downright balmy – winter boots not even a necessity most days so far this December due to the lack of snow – but that’s no excuse not to be in the Christmas spirit.
Just take a look around.
Downtown businesses and houses on our side streets and up and down the country roads are downright festive, especially in the evenings when the lights are sparkling.  In next week’s paper we will have the names of those in the village judged to have the best lights in the 23rd annual Christmas lighting contest, which we proudly sponsor along with Boggs Financial. You will want to make sure you have a look at efforts of the winners.
Flip through this week’s Enterprise News  and you’ll see pictures galore that prove without a doubt that Christmas is just around the corner. It’s been the same in issues since mid-November. The Santa Claus parades, teas and bazaars, Christmas cantatas, Christmas parties – events celebrating the festive season in Arthur and environs are many.
The few days until Dec. 25 are packed – check out the coming events and other advertisements this week and plan to attend a couple of Christmas events. If you have children or grandchildren in other local schools, attend a concert. Go to a Sunday school concert, or attend a special church service if that’s your style.  Volunteer – there are lots of organizations that could use an extra pair of hands. Or simply drop by a retirement or nursing home and have a visit with someone on his or her own or  send a totally unexpected card or gift to someone.
Take time to enjoy the week leading up to Christmas.
