The Plumber’s Wife/Coffey Plumbing and Heating was named runner-up in the entrepreneur category when the Saugeen Territory Awards of Recognition and Success (STARS in business Awards) were handed out in Mount Forest last week.
The gala dinner and awards ceremony were held at the Mount Forest Sports Complex Wednesday evening.
Winner of the entrepreneur award was Hawthorn Farm Organic Seeds of RR 3, Palmerston.
Other nominees were I’m Sooooooo Bad and Meat the Butcher, both from Mount Forest.
The customer service award was given to Harriston Motors Limited.
Adell’s Beauty Salon of Mount Forest was named runner-up in the customer service category.
Others nominated in the category were I’m Sooooooo Bad of Mount Forest and Epoch’s Garage, Kenilworth.
Brent Russell of Dunwood Signs & Textiles of Dundalk was named Young Entrepreneur.
Kate Civiero of Infinite Glassworks in Eugenia was runner-up.
Other young entrepreneurs nominated were Grasshopper Painting of Mount Forest and Harriston Auto Centre.
Wellington North Mayor Mike Broomhead presented the corporate citizen of the year to Trish and Randy Ruetz of Larry Grummett Insurance of Clifford.
Patty and John Mock of Harriston Home Hardware were named as runners-up.
Also nominated, as corporate citizen of the year was Patti Jo McLellan Shaw of Hapfield Development Corporation and JJ McLellan Plumbing and Heating, Mount Forest.
Kimbal Printing of Harriston was named company of the year under 15 employees.

year under 15 employees was Field and Range Sportshooting Supplies of Markdale.

On Monday, Dec. 28 local residents will have the chance to witness the majesty that is the Olympic Flame first-hand when the Olympic Torch Relay comes to Wellington North. The inspirational relay will arrive in to Mount Forest from Shelburne, and then torchbearers will head to Durham, Hanover and Kincardine before completing the day’s journey

There was a large number of people present for the annual Remembrance Day Ceremony held at the cenotaph in Arthur held at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
The event was started with the singing of O Canada led by the student choir at St. John Catholic School, followed by the lowering of the Canadian flag.

The atmosphere at Arthur Legion Hall was one of warmth, fellowship and respect during the annual Veterans’ Dinner held on Saturday evening, Nov. 7.
Several esteemed guests took advantage of the opportunity to share a delicious meal with local veterans and their families. Most contributed a few words to the occasion.
