New Year’s babies abound
January 6, 2012By Lynne Turner
It stands to reason that the first baby of the year born at Louise Marshall Hospital would have parents in the Wellington North area.
But, as 2012 dawned, babies with Wellington North connections were being welcomed to the world in hospitals in Fergus, Kitchener, Cambridge and even Barrie.
Mr. and Mrs. Gingrich of RR 2, Mount Forest welcomed the arrival of their son Claire at 6:25 a.m. on Sunday morning, Jan. 1 at the Mount Forest hospital.
Delivered by Dr. Hugh Perrin, little Claire weighed six pounds, one ounce.
The first baby of the year in Wellington County arrived at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus – five pound, eight ounce Brinley Westlake was born at 5:35 a.m. Sunday and is the sixth son for Jenny Aldridge and third son for her partner Glen Westlake of the Mount Forest area.
Brinley’s brothers are Brody, Braden, Brandon, Brookley and Bronson. They range in age from two to 10.
Ms. Aldridge wasn’t due to have the baby until Jan. 12 but Brinley was delivered via caesarian section after his mother went to hospital to get checked out due to considerable discomfort.
The first baby of the year born in Cambridge, Peyton Tobey, also has a local connection. She is the first great-granddaughter for Bill and Donelda Tobey of South Bend.
