Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Wellington was recently granted national accreditation, having successfully met review standards outlined by its national governing body, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.
As a measure to continually ensure maximum child safety and the pursuit of organizational excellence, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) introduced a review process for its member agencies more than 25 years ago. It most recently evolved this process into a national accreditation program, conducted by professionally trained reviewers who must complete training given by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.
The Accreditation certificate is granted upon approval of agency practices in the areas of child safety, service delivery, and organizational excellence; including a consultative process with agency volunteers, parents and board members, plus assurance of sound fiscal management practices and agency strategic planning.
“Although the process is time consuming and seems onerous, it is our responsibility as a child serving agency to always guarantee their safety and well being,” said Marnie Mainland, Executive Director of BBBS of North Wellington. “We are proud to be part of such a reputable national organization.”
Currently serving 76 children, BBBS of North Wellington has been making positive inroads in the community for more than 35 years. It is committed to serving children and youth by providing them with quality mentoring relationships with volunteers.
