Shirley Freda Kozinets (nee Sussman) will be missed by many local residents, as well as employees both past and present of Sussman’s of Arthur.
Shirley was born in Toronto, but her parents moved to Arthur when she was very young.
Long-time employee of Sussman’s and friend of the family Pat Salter has many fond memories of Shirley.
She was involved in a serious accident when she was two.  Pat says Shirley’s bones were never set properly after the accident and as a result she was slightly disabled. But that didn’t slow her down -- she never stopped walking, shopping, visiting church bazaars and dinners (no matter which church held it), and constantly stopping in to see how things were progressing at Sussman’s, her family’s business.
She grew up in a house near the old Catholic school and attended classes there, despite the fact she was Jewish.
Pat said Shirley gave away more baby gifts than anyone will ever know. She presented gifts to the moms of any newborn babies that she heard about, and also donated door prizes to the Eastern Star constantly.
“She was truly a very generous woman,” Pat said.
