A violent clash between two groups of youths at a Brampton high school yesterday lead to charges against a 17-year-old and has left Peel Regional Police hunting for a gun.
The two groups faced off at 3:15 p.m. outside Sandalwood Heights Secondary School on Sandalwood Parkway near Torbram Road. They were armed with baseball bats, metal pipes and cricket bats and several car windows in the school’s parking lot were smashed. The melee broke up when school staff came out, and many of the youths drove away in several vehicles.
Police say a gold Honda started chasing a black Honda from the scene, but in the area of Bramalea Road and Dewside Drive, a passenger in the black Honda leaned out the window and fired several shots from a handgun at the pursuing car.
No one was hurt, and police were called. Armed with a licence plate number, police went to a house in the area of Sandalwood Parkway and Chinguacousy Road and arrested a 17-year-old who they believe was the driver.
No gun was found, and police say they are still looking for it, and any passengers that were in the black Honda.
The teen was charged with several offences, including assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon.
