This past Friday the Atom Vipers played against Acton on home ice. The boys were giving it their all but seemed to have some tough luck at the net. That and the ref enjoyed having us in the penalty box. Some were warranted and others well let's just say some of us spectators were wondering if the refs were at the game!
We had 12 minutes of penalties which didn't help our game out. The whole team did a great job of killing the penalties especially when two of our players were riding the pine. Taylor Quirke put us on the board with 19 seconds left in the first period, it was a beautiful goal assisted by Noah Coffey.
We held them off until the third period when Acton found their mark three times. Final score 3-1 for Acton.
Late Sunday afternoon we were off to Dundas. The boys stepped out unto the ice and you could tell they were hungry for a win. It was a great game to say the least. The boys were really hustling and making some great passes and shots on net. We had some tough luck at the net but at the six minute mark of the first Coffey put us on the board assist credit goes to Kyle Brunkard. In the second period Dundas applied the pressure and scored two unanswered goals. We finished the second with a score of 2-1.
The chat between the second and third seemed to light the boys up. Aaron Goetz really worked hard at the net but luck wasn't with you Aaron but great effort. Wade Green scored the goal to tie the game it was unassisted and a very nice goal. Although Shaky “aka” Alex Gardner was right there so I think maybe and assist credit belongs to him. Jordan Speer, Quirke, Coffey and Goetz all had nice break aways. Finally with three minutes left Quirke scored a beautiful goal assisted by Coffey. Great work boys! We finished 3–2. It was a great game and great playing by the team. You all worked really hard at passing and moving the puck out of our end. Good work guys.
