Two teams from the Arthur skating club capture podium positions this past weekend at Cupids Capers. Cupids Capers is a synchronized skating event, which attracts teams from Ontario, and Quebec. This event was hosted in Newmarket this year.
The Elementary Rhythm on Ice team captured Bronze in their division. A wonderful accomplishment in their first season together, in their very first competition. Coached by Jenna Trimble, the team draws skaters from Palmerston, Drayton and Arthur Skating Clubs. They practice their two minute thirty second program weekly using both on-ice and off-ice training techniques. Team manager Beth Jackson is very proud of her team that ranges in age from 8 to 12 years. The Elementary team is looking forward to showcasing their program again this weekend at the WESKATE competition being hosted in Drayton.
The Pre-Novice Rhythm on Ice team captured Bronze in their division. Coached by Barb Rogers, this team of 14 young women ranging in age from 12 to 17 years of age has seen great strides in their scores this season. Their dramatic three minute program is skated to the music from Pearl Harbour. Team manager Cindy Mick is proud of the dedication and compassion that these skaters show to their teammates. The Pre-Novice team has a very busy month for February planned. They will be guests at the Mount Forest Patriots home game skating their program between periods, on Saturday February 6, then off to Fort Erie to compete at Regionals February 12-14. The last weekend of February, the team will perform their routine at the both the Drayton and Arthur Skating Club Carnivals.
Congratulations Rhythm on Ice!
