Gary Williamson of RR 1, Harriston filed nomination papers on Monday, seeking the County Councillor Ward 4 position in this fall’s upcoming election. Williamson is presently the Manager of Public Works for the Township of Wellington North and will be contesting the seat currently held by Walter Trachsel of Mount Forest. Trachsel is also seeking re-election.
Lynda M. Whyte, Incumbent County Councillor Ward 4, is seeking re-election. Also running is Jim Heinbuch of RR 2, Arthur.
Seeking of the office of mayor are Incumbent Councillor Ross Chaulk of RR 2, Kenilworth, Incumbent Mayor Mike Broomhead of Mount Forest and political newcomers Janice L. Lewis and Raymond T. Tout, both of Mount Forest.
Ward 1 Incumbent Councillor Dan J. Yake of Mount Forest is seeking re-election. Two other Mount Forest residents – Shawn McLeod and Derek Bridgwater are also running in Ward 1.
Two political newcomers from Mount Forest – Ron J. Forrest and Sherry Burke – are running in Ward 2. The seat is up for grabs, as Incumbent Councillor Bob Mason has announced his retirement.
Running for Ward 3 – presently represented by mayoralty candidate Ross Chaulk – are Lisa M. Hern of RR 2, Kenilworth, Mark A. Goetz of Kenilworth, Steven G.J. Leask of Mount Forest and Kevin Bodz of RR 2, Arthur.
Candidates in Ward 4 are Incumbent Councillor John Matusinec and Barry J. Dishart, both of Arthur, Andy F. Lennox of RR 4, Kenilworth and George Johnstone of Arthur.
Bruce Schieck of RR 2, Moorefield is seeking re-election to the office of school trustee on the Upper Grand District School Board representing Wellington North, Mapleton and Minto.
