July 15 saw Arthur start a long crammed stretch of games with their first opponent being Drayton/Moorefield. Despite being short players with only nine the girls came to play and took a 22-8 victory. This was a huge team effort as all nine players hit and got home at one point of the game.
Three days later the girls were once again in action at home but this time taking on Mount Forest. The bats were on fire again that night with once again every player scoring a run. Lots of our many runs came from Lylie, Grace, and Paige batting three for four, Josey who batted four for five and Jess who went a perfect four for four! An unbelievable start to Josey Rooney’s pitching career going three up three down and striking out all three! Paige stood on the mound next and also saw three up three down. The girls got the well deserved 24-9 win!
Another three nights passed until their next outing in Palmerston and the girls were up for a challenge. A rough night for the bats saw Arthur only register 11 total hits. The defence held strong keeping the score knotted up and that’s how it would be in the end. Arthur held on, refused to go away and finished with a 10-10 tie.
Finally came the second last game in the long stretch which was once again at home against Drayton/Moorefield. Arthur was out there for a win and nothing else and it showed as they took the 19-11 win. Our big cracks of the bat were from Nikita and Gabby who doubled and Paige, Jillian, Grace and Josey! Another notable was Lylie who batted three for three! A special thanks to our call-up Sarah who played another game for us and to Lylie who played while still battling an injury.
The next game for the girls was Wednesday in Mount Forest at 6:30. Come out and support the girls as they edge closer to their tournament! Hope to see you there!
