It was a bare-bones crew of Wellington North U16 Ringers that took to the ice this past Friday night against a fully loaded Kitchener squad. With various girls away with illness or previous commitments the Ringers called up U14 forward Chevonne Wright to help fill the gap. Knowing they were facing a daunting task WNR-16 just didn’t let it bother them. They came out all spunky and ready to go in the opening frame pressuring the visitors with hard fore checking. Even when Kitchener scored two quickies in the sixth and seventh minutes the Ringers were unfazed. Erica Saunders hit paydirt with a nice shot to cut the lead in half. When Kitchener upped the lead three minutes later, it took less than a minute for Erica’s big sister Holly to answer with a hot shot to bring the Ringers closer once again. Credit WNR-16 rookie little Chevonny with the assist.
