January 6, 2012By Janice Richardson
On December 18 the Atom Vipers hosted a tournament. Arthur was undefeated in three games to secure the championship for the second year in a row. The Vipers’ first game had them facing Stayner. Arthur won easily, beating their opponents 8-0. Goals in the first period were had by Blair Geddes, unassisted and Dylan Richardson, assisted by Ryan Goetz. There were five goals scored in the second period. First it was Dylan, unassisted, then Bryan Richardson, assisted by Brody Lougheed and Ben Saunders. Next it was Blair with the assists from Ryan and Liam Koebel. Joel Richardson then put one between the pipes, assisted by Ben and Blair. Bryan was next, with the assists from Quincy Alexander and Isaac Major. The final goal of the game was from Joel, assisted by Blair and Brody.
Game two had the team facing Six Nations. Arthur won with a large margin again, beating Six Nations 7–0. Arthur opened the scoring early in the game when Quincy scored within the first minute of play. Two more goals were scored in the first. Brody fired one in, assisted by Blair and Joel. Then it was Blair scoring, unassisted. The lone goal in the second period was another unassisted shot by Blair. The third period saw three goals. Two came from Joel, the first was assisted by Blair and Daniel McKibbon while the second was unassisted. Also scoring was Ryan, with help from Dylan and Daniel. The highlight of the game (though it is possible the author is biased) came when Joel scored on a penalty shot. Riley McCabe earned his second shutout of the tournament.
