The Novice Vipers were promised a victory celebration if they won and they proved that they really wanted to party at the McCabe’s since they trounced Wainfleet 6-1. This game clinched the series for the Vipers.
Arthur had the fans roaring early when they scored the first goal of the game. It was Quincy Alexander who scored assisted by Dylan Richardson.
Wainfleet scored their only goal late in the second period. Arthur was quick to get the lead back with a goal approximately one minute later. Bryan Richardson scored with assists going to Jacob Bauman and Brody Lougheed. The Vipers then broadened their lead with another goal coming fourteen seconds later. This time it was Dylan scoring, assisted by Dessy Prendergast and Ryan Goetz.
The third period started off with another goal for Arthur. It was a repeat of the game’s first goal, scored by Quincy and assisted by Dylan. The Vipers continued on the offensive. Next it was Brody scoring with an assist by Dylan. The last goal of the game saw Coach Bill Richardson’s hat go flying onto the ice (and Coach Jim Goetz trip off the end of the bench in his excitement). Quincy scored his third goal of the game giving him the hat trick with Dylan picking up another assist earning him his fifth point for the night.
Darcy’s three stars of the game were: third star - Brody, who played an excellent game really moving the puck up the ice, hitting his teammates’ sticks with great passes and helping out the defence when they needed it. Second star - Dylan and first star - Quincy.
Arthur is waiting for the next round of playoffs to start when they’ll face either Plattsville or Norwich.
Correction: In last week’s article it was reported that Dessy was the third star of the game and Riley McCabe was the first star. It should have read that Dessy was the first star while Riley was the third star.
