I think they’re in a mid-winter funk. Maybe it’s the February Blah’s. Lord knows the February Blah’s get us all some times. But I got a feeling that when they breakout the Wellington North U12 Ringers are going to go from funky to Super Fantastic cause we know they got it in them. While Kitchener gave them a rough ride on Saturday there were signs the Ringers are ready to come around. Early in the game the U12’s did their best to hang in with MacKenzie Hanlon looking sharp in goal. Amelia Walker, Chevonne Wright, Liam McArthur and Meghan Benn were scrambling to handle the swift skating B squad (the Ringers are C) who just kept on coming. Carissa Campbell, Jordan Bushey and Courtney Voison were trying to get some offence going. Catarina Oakes, Macy Showers and MacKenzie McDougall were doing their best to figure out the tough checking of the Kitchener squad.
In the second period they lost a bit of their competitive spirit. However, I think what they need is to watch the Canadian athletes compete at the upcoming Winter Olympics. The inspiration they get from seeing the work and dedication these people give will have them coming out on the next game full of maple syrup and beaver spit and they’ll be flyin’! Go gett’em Ringers!
