Tuesday, February 16 Arthur Atom LL played at home and even though it was not a good start to the game with Erin/Hillsburgh scoring only one minute in, Austin Shaw came back in the second to tie it up, with a nice pass from Tristan Strubb. The final score remained 1-1.
Our next game was Saturday, February 20 and Arthur opened the scoring in the first with Gordon Wilman slamming one in, assisted by Hunter McWhinney. Fergus then followed suit and scored shortly after. Then in the second we rallied back and forth with Fergus scoring, then Jager Stewart assisted Shaw to a nice goal and one minute later Wilman scored again, assisted by Shaw. Fergus was then able to sneak another one by us, but Shaw came back again with another goal assisted by Strubb, leaving us ahead 4-3 going into the third. We continued to play well in the third, with some great shots on net, and great teamwork and with just over two minutes left in the game Strubb scored and Arthur was sure they had a win! However, I think we were a little too sure and Fergus found some more energy getting not one, but two more goals by us leaving us with another tie, this time 5-5. Good work team!
We would also like to extend a big thank you to Doug Bell, for donating his 50/50 winnings, from our Feb. 2 home game, back to our team! This week’s schedule is 7pm in Fergus on Tuesday, Feb.23 against Elora and then we also play Saturday, Feb.27 at 9am in Fergus, good luck Atoms!
