The playoffs have been exciting for this group of players as they make their way to finals and then their Provincials.
The boys hosted Brantford on July 22 where they defeated them 7-2! Jorden Reaman was on a scoring streak scoring Arthur’s first four goals. He was assisted by Alex Kieffer and Dariean McNeil for the first two goals. Jorden’s other two goals were unassisted.
Also on a scoring streak for Arthur was Blake Lewis earning two unassisted goals. Jake Mulder had one goal assisted by Cole Hodgins.
The team travelled to Kitchener on July 26. The Aces kept the lead throughout most of the game however things fell apart for them towards the end of the third. KW moved ahead as the time clock ran out with 6-5 win over the Aces. It was a heartbreaking loss in the sweltering heat but they gave it a very good effort. Jason Nauta was the top scorer for Arthur with two goals and two assists. Jason was assisted by Owen O’Donnell and Lewis. Hodgins was on the scoreboard for two goals – once unassisted and the other goal was assisted by Alex Kieffer. Matti Epoch had one goal assisted by Nauta.
The final championship game for the A division in Zone 8 was played in Owen Sound this past Tuesday night. Brantford and KW played elsewhere for the B division.
The Aces were in decent form but were not overly successful in scoring. Epoch scored single handily in the first period and Hodgins with the assistance of McNeil and O’Donnell, scored in the second period. The rest of the goals were for Owen Sound as they defeated the Aces 8–2.
The coach was not available for comments after the playoff games but considering the calibre of players the PW1 were up against they did well to finish where they did.  Thanks to PW2 players Taylor Quirke, Wade Green and Bradly Coburn for your help when it was required this year.
Good Luck in Provincial Boys – GO ACES GO!
