The Novices playoff series started on July 19th and consisted of five games.  Their first game, played in Arthur was by far the most exciting game this team played to date.  Their opponent was Milton.  The Aces won the first period with a score of 3 -1.  Milton tied the game 3 -3 as the second period ended.  The score remained 3 – 3 at the end of the third so a fourth period was added to break the tie.  After a brief rest the players were back.  This would be a sudden death win.  Unfortunately Miltona scored resulting in a 4 – 3 loss for the Aces.  Both Goalies – Kyle and Gage played a great game as did the entire team.
July 22 had the Aces at home to Guelph where the Aces defeated them 7 – 2.  The Aces versed the Guelph team again on July 26th for another win of 6 – 0. The last game was played in Milton on July 28th where they experienced a loss of 6 – 3.
The top two teams then played for the championship.  This game was played in Arthur on August 3rd with the Aces taking on the Milton team.  Again the Aces dazzled their fans and in turn the large crowd cheered with bells of many sorts!  The game was a duel right to the end of the third period as the game ended in a 4 – 4 tie.  Once again the Aces were faced with an overtime period to determine a winner.  This time the sudden death winner was Arthur ending the game with a 5 – 4 victory!  The team was presented with the Zone 8 Championship trophy.  The win was an entire team effort which had Andrew Knutson earning his first goal of the year and the first for Arthur and Blair Geddes scoring the overtime goal.
The boys are heading to their Provincials in Whitby this coming weekend.  Good luck Team…..Go ACES Go.
