Homeruns were hit by Ben Saunders, Ben L., Dylan (3) and Jacob Saunders. Triples were hit by Alyssa Farrelly, Ben L., Rio (2), Barrett Dobie and Johnathan Hewittson. ?The highlight of the game goes to Jacob for the best pop fly catch of the season. He made it look so effortless, so casual. It was almost like he didn’t even know the ball was there. ?August 3 saw the Mites on the road to Palmerston to face Minto Crush. Arthur squeaked out a win with a score of 19-18.?Rio did an excellent job on second base stopping some well hit balls and then tagging two runners out. Alyssa made some great catches for outs on first base.?The bats were kind of quiet with just Erin Rooney going four for four at the plate. Homeruns were hit by Ben L. and Dylan. Sarah O’Donnell and Dylan each hit a triple.?The Mites were back at home on August 5 when they hosted Hillsburgh 2. It was a great match and the game ended up tied at 21 all.?Bella Smith and Jacob went four for four. Homeruns were hit by Erin and Ben S. while triples were smacked by Dylan, Barrett and Ben S.?The Mites final game of the season was on August 8 when they traveled to Hillsburgh to face the Hillsburgh 1 team. It was one of Arthur’s best games of the season but in the end the hard-hitting Hillsburgh team won 26-22.?The short bench didn’t hamper Arthur’s efforts at all and the team did an incredible job getting balls in from the outfield. Ben S. and Dylan both made pop fly catches.?Ben L. had a perfect record at the plate going five for five. Homeruns were hit by Dylan (2), Ben S. and Ben L. Triples were hit by Alyssa, Johnathan and Erin.?The Minor Mites finish the season with a record of 12 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie. They will compete in the playoff tournament in Ponsonby from August 12-15. ?
