The Arthur Atom Boys (and two girls) softball team completed their season on August 22, in Alma, at their year end tournament. This year our team was made up of three second year Atom players, six first year Atom boys, and three boys who have never played ball before. We also had some help from a couple of Mite players who filled in when others were away.  
During regular season play some very impressive ball was played. Our team finished fourth out of nine teams with nine wins, one tie and five loses. Due to a season ending injury Dannika Bauman wasn’t able to play the second half of the season or in our tournament but she did a super job helping out on the bench! Caiman Martin and Brandon Spark were also unavailable for our tournament weekend. We started our tournament play on Friday, August 21. We were not able to compete with Rockwood who played an outstanding game. The final score ending up to be 27-3 in Rockwood’s favour. Although disappointed, our team decided to show the others that we were there to play ball on Saturday morning. Before our first game the kids shouted our cheer for everyone to hear: ” We’re Blue, We’re White, We’re Dynamite! We won’t go home without a fight. Go Twisters!” And that they did. They fought hard to the end. Our fans saw spectacular pitching by Bryan Richardson, fantastic catching by Joey Sheppard, amazing plays in the infield by Ryan Goetz, Jake Bauman, Joel Richardson and Ben Saunders, and strong fielding by Madison Richardson, Brandon Thring, Justin Coffey, Riley Strub and Brandon Wiebe. Super batting and base running by everyone helped us to beat Drayton/Moorefield 12-8, then Minto 2 by a score of 11-10. The third game of the day was the most challenging but our fans tried to keep the kids pumped up! Although our 9-3 loss to Grand Valley put us out of the tournament with a fourth place finish, we had nothing to hang our heads about. I think that everyone who had the opportunity to see our team play this season would agree that there was tremendous growth from the beginning of the season to the end. Well done Twisters!
I would like to congratulate our team for a fantastic season! Special thanks to Adam Strub and Bill Richardson for their support with coaching. Thank you to all the other parents who were so supportive and jumped in to help when it was needed at practices and games. Thanks to Ryan Goetz and Ben Saunders, our two terrific Mite players, for helping our team. Thank you to our fans for your support during the season and especially at the year end tournament!
